In recent months, Afghan Witness has identified multiple Twitter accounts imitating the branding of several big outlets.

According to news reports, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed the incident occured due to a lack of coordination among Taliban groups.

While the Taliban have said hijab is not compulsory, there have been widespread efforts to implement it.

The explosions reportedly targeted Hazara Shias – the second such attack in Mazar-e Sharif in just one week.

Following the incident, the Taliban posted interviews online with alleged family members, who claimed the man was suffering from mental health issues.

The blasts come just days after multiple explosions in the Dasht-e-Barchi area of Kabul.

The attacks took place in Dasht-e-Barchi, which has a largely Hazara Shia population.
